  1. Opium, a Compilation of songs by Bill Dixon, Franz Koglmann & Steve Lacy. Released 27 March on Between the Lines (catalog no. BTL ; CD). Genres: Free Jazz. Featured peformers: Franz Koglmann (liner notes), Tom Delbeke (remastering).
  2. Steve Lacy had plenty of fantastic moments on the European scene of the 70s – but this unique album may well stand as one of his best! The set's very different than any of Steve 's recordings with his own group – partly because the core energy here comes from trumpeter Franz Koglmann – who sets things up in a really unusual way, by often embracing rhythm – but also setting it free in.
  3. For leaders: Bill Dixon- tpt on #3 only / Franz Koglmann- tpt (1+2 only), flugelhorn () / Steve Lacy- sop sax (all but #3). **Cuts drawn from Franz Koglmann's "Opium/For Franz" on Pipe records which originally included Bill Dixon on his composition only/5(2).

  5. Part of "Flaps was released on CD there. Lacy and Koglmann made one more LP where Bill Dixon + Koglmann (without Lacy) can be heard on the first side. A few tracks also made it on to the mentioned CD. But this recording remains unreleased except the first track: FRANZ KOGLMANN QUARTET & STEVE LACY "BALVER HÖHLE, " Franz Koglmann, trumpet.

  8. Incredible work from trumpeter Franz Koglmann – a musician who doesn't always get the same sort of credit as his avant jazz contemporaries – but who certainly warrants strong recognition for the depth of this set! The record is bristling with brilliance – and has this mixture of free expressions balanced with a sense of structure – in a way that's almost a link between Brand: Black Monk (Austria) (Label).
